About

Jon Dwyer is an artist who draws inspiration from his father’s portrait photography, his diverse experiences, and his curiosity for new horizons. He believes that painting is a collaborative and communicative process that engages with various issues of aesthetics and the role of art in society. He enjoys exploring new ideas, evoking emotions, and transcending the boundaries of imagination through his work.

Jon grew up in Boston, where he was exposed to the artistic process at an early age through his father’s engagement as a portrait photographer. He was fascinated by his father’s ability to navigate the dynamic variables inherent in film photography, such as light, color, and composition. This sparked Jon’s own passion for artistic expression and influenced his style and technique.

Jon views his contribution to the art world as being part of a larger dialogue that involves visual, cultural, and historical elements. He is influenced by his personal and professional experiences, as well as by the works of other artists. He strives to create paintings that reflect his identity, perspective, and vision.

Jon currently resides in Philadelphia, where he balances his vocation in finance with his artistic endeavors. The contrast between his professional life and artistic passion adds an additional layer of depth and complexity to his work, showcasing the juxtaposition of different aspects of his identity. Painting has become Jon’s primary means of self-expression, enabling him to establish connections and communicate his ideas.
